With his two-season stint on “How To Make It In America,” we know Kid Cudi has some acting chops, but his role in the new Kanye West film “Cruel Summer” is certainly something new. The G.O.O.D. music artist plays a car thief that falls in love with a blind Arabian princess and goes on a quest for both her heart and vision.

At the film’s premiere yesterday (May 23), which coincided with the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France, Cudi said the sensation of seeing himself on the big screen was strange. He was honored that West included him in yet another of his grand experiments, though.

"It was weird! But it was dope," Cudi said. "I’m nervous, just like with anything I do, with people watching, but I’m really proud of it. I’m happy that Kanye had me as part of it. It’s so humbling. He’s a genius, he’s the best, the illest… you can quote me on that!"

As a focal point of the experimental “Cruel Summer,” Cudi receives a lot of screen time. West shot the film to be shown over seven screens that alternately come on and off, sometimes showing different angles of a single shot and other times acting as an extended wide screen.

West plans to keep editing and screen the music-heavy film, which has garnered comparisons to Ye’s 2010 short “Runaway,” in both New York and Qatar.

anyone else excited to see this??
